Privacy

What we collect. If you register, we store your email address, display name, and hashed password. If you subscribe to the newsletter, we store your subscription choices. That's the extent of personal data we hold about readers.

Link clicks. When you follow a link from the wire we count the click to rank the week's most-read items. We do not store your IP address — clicks are deduplicated using a salted one-way hash that is deleted within 48 hours. Click counts are aggregate numbers only.

Cookies. We set a single session cookie, used for signing in. No analytics or advertising cookies, no third-party trackers.

Email. The weekly newsletter is double opt-in: you choose it on your account page after verifying your email. Every issue includes a one-click unsubscribe link, and you can change country subscriptions or opt out at any time from your account page. We send email via our transactional email provider; your address is shared with them solely for delivery.

Editors' profiles. Editor names, titles, photos, and bios are published with the editors' agreement as part of their public byline.

Your rights. You may request a copy or deletion of your account data at any time by contacting the site administrator. Deleting your account removes your personal data; items you posted as an editor remain attributed to your display name unless you ask otherwise.
